Exhibitions have been in a state of constant transformation since the 1980s. Museum shows became lifestyle events, places of work became temporary museums, and the museum itself became a place of learning where people could look, learn and do it themselves. Exhibition presentation is the decisive factor within all of this; it must simultaneously take venue, collection and object, curatorial demands and visitors into account. While the renaissance of the collection dates back to the beginnings of museums, new solutions in design and technology is leading us into a new era of exhibition presentation. This publication traces 25 years of experience by museumstechnik. It shows a natural alliance between museums and technology, presenting exemplary concepts and approaches to design while also looking at the future development of exhibitions.
