I was originally introduced to this book by a friend who had an old copy. After reading it, I was persuaded to add it to my personal collection. Assuming that Hoover is actually the author here, both his knowledge of communist theories and his command of the English language are superb. This book also allows one to understand Hoover's point of view regarding Communist tactics and provides a good context for the time in which it was written. This also helps to explain the motivations behind his aggressive campaign against communist activities in the US. I found the passage beginning on page 136 entitled Lenin's Theory of Imperialism almost breathtaking. Hoover contends that since the transition of power from industrialists to financiers had not yet happened in the US at the time of the writing that Lenin's Imperialist theory was disproven.. but perhaps he was just forty years too early? Most if not all of the abuses of power on the part of the former Soviet Union outlined by the author have been confirmed with the passage of time and the fall of the Communist state. Overall, this was highly informative from a historical perspective and should be read if for nothing else than to learn how to write effectively.
