PreSchool-When Lola, a cheerful little hamster, tells her friends that her parents sometimes call her "babycake," "sweetie pie," or "fairy princess," they all laugh and tease her. She feels sad until she learns that many adults also had endearing nicknames when they were small. When her best friend apologizes and reveals that her parents have now adopted the very same pet names for her, Lola feels resentful at first. After a while, however, she decides that "Silly little nicknames [are] for everyone, after all!" Whimsical drawings capture Lola's feelings and mood swings, and depict a world of cuddly humanlike hamsters. A slight, sweet story.
