作者简介

José Rafael Moneo is an internationally renowned architect, in practice since 1965. He has taught in both Spain and America, and from 1986 to 1990 he was Chairman of the Architecture Department at Harvard's Graduate School of Design. He holds the Gold Medal for Fine Arts awarded by the government of Spain, the Arnold W. Brunner Memorial Prize for Architecture, and the Schock Prize.

一些传记类文章看起来总不过瘾，有隔靴搔痒之感，前几天看阿伦特与海德格尔，突然意识到这也许是作为一个综合体，多数传记作者与传主本人并不能等量齐观，于是不对等。所以突显这一辑moneo课堂讲义的精妙性。以下摘录一段与西扎（siza）和佩索阿（pessoa）相关的部分，由此可...

真有意思这书的英文原版的主标题成了中文版的副标题——Theorectical Anxiety and Design Stratergy 中文版的主标题是原版的副标题——Eight Contemporary Architecture 而且强调了 “哈佛” 八位现代建筑师看来此类书在这儿还是很需要名牌效应的。

如果给出一个educated建筑师的paradigm, 那么肯定不是Eisenman,Rossi and Venturi之流，也不是Koolhaas, Gehry, H&DM，甚至不是Siza和Stirling, 只能是Rafael Moneo, 除了精确的点评和分析，理论与实践视角娴熟的切换，还有一个包容的心。

老爷子是多喜欢用bona fide这个词！还是那个天主教精英莫内欧，理论和感受都能讲，语言优雅，注意方法论教学（从平面设计还是从立面设计？等）。主要讲法是系谱和源流（个人风格的发展和受到前辈的影响）。像丹纳一样喜欢从背景特别是民族性格入手。喜欢拿前后期对比：斯特林从剖面到平面；罗西从理性学科化到个人表达化；艾森曼从抽象的建筑自治到汲取场地及向各种学科借意象；西扎从灵性的桥段到娴熟的重复；盖里从分解的碎片性到完整的空间流动；赫+德从对材料的表现到对表皮/房屋原型的关注（老爷子当年似乎对此倾向颇有微辞，不知道今天会不会觉得他们走上了歪路）……

前面介绍理论反而比后面介绍项目要更清晰，罗西项目部分简直是一头雾水，相比之下艾森曼那本更开眼界
