Anthony Grey is the author of five previous books: Hostage in Peking, the story of his two years' solitary confinement during the Chinese Cultural revolution; A Man Alone, a book of short stories; and three novels, Some Put their Trust in Chariots, The Bulgarian Exclusive, and The Chinese Assassin. He has made television documentaries for the BBC and ATV and from 1974-9 was a regular presenter of 'Twenty-four Hours', the BBC World Service programme on international current affairs broadcast daily from London.
