A great book especially for beginners like me. It provides the readers with an overall image of the development of modern architecture as well as a platform to further develop their interest in any specific notions. Not only the linear clue of modern architecture is clearly narrated, but also the depth of every key movement is well summarised.

下午讀瞭8與9兩章，覺得柯洪寫得非常精彩。讀者盡可以不認同他的觀點，但是，他會告訴我們諸多他的洞見。比如，針對密斯，他並不贊同晚近一些評論傢對密斯材料和錶皮的解讀。他認為，密斯的確關心建築的某些工藝，但核心部分是建築圖紙的錶現的理念化，甚至不是建造（179），是德國理念主義的延續。。。然後，他開始講當時跟風格派針鋒相對的瑞士ABC雜誌。接下一章講意大利的戰後建築師的評語，更加透徹。。。。。的確，是薄而有料的好書。推薦/昨晚讀瞭一章寫康的，好。真受啓發。
