這本書英文很淺顯易懂，非常適閤入門讀。對於當代建築設計的過程和方法進行瞭論述。作者是謝菲爾德大學建築係的係主任，同時也是心理學傢。所以這本著作也會有一些認知心理學的討論。還是比較推薦建築初學者的入門讀物。

How Designers Think is based on Bryan Lawson's many observations of designers at work, interviews with designers and their clients and collaborators. Neither the earlier editions, nor this book, are intended as authoritative prescriptions of how designers should think but provide helpful advice on how to develop an understanding of design.

In this fourth edition, Bryan Lawson continues to try and understand how designers think, to explore how they might be better educated and to develop techniques to assist them in their task. Some chapters have been revised and three completely new chapters added. The book is now intended to be read in conjunction with What Designers Know which is a companion volume. Some of the ideas previously discussed in the third edition of How Designers Think are now explored more thoroughly in What Designers Know. For the first time this fourth edition works towards a model of designing and the skills that collectively constitute the design process.

比《设计师怎样思考——解密设计》翻译的要好；可能是原著本身就比较难翻译，能译到这个程度应该就很不容易了吧

一本内容不错的书，两位翻译者对同一概念的翻译居然不一样，generator和constraint两个概念，前后翻译不一致，看书的时候没有连贯性。这样的态度对不起读者。封面设计和整本书的排版也没有原版的好。

推荐另外一个译本：《设计思维--建筑设计过程解析 (原书第三版)(执业建筑师实务丛书)》 http://www.douban.com/subject/3062340/ 相比之下，翻译就好多了，至少那个版本的译者是真的尝试去理解去表达的。而不像这本《设计师怎样思考》，完全是直译，我都不知道译者自己是不是...
