簡直可以看成是未來移民火星的史詩級教科書，也可以說是一本關於烏托邦的寓言。作者駕馭大空間跨度和地域跨度的技巧讓人驚嘆。有時候讀起來會覺得有些疲憊，不過一旦進入那個紅色火星世界就迫不及待的想知道後麵的故事。

如果没有做好心理准备，而是寻求某种刺激，那么这书不推荐去读。毕竟很莫名其妙的情节，完全不了解的故事背景，让人读起来很费解。而真正的科幻大师，不会沉迷恋于刻画一个小装置，摆弄小玩意儿。作者罗宾逊更多的是幻想了一个未来的社会，一个人与人冲突的社会。未来是什么...
