European food law has developed slowly over the years, with no central text outlining the principles and defining the obligations of those working in the food industry. Finally, in 1997, the European Commission published a Green Paper on Food Law, identifying the basic goals.
In European Food Law, attorney Raymond O'Rourke has written a book for lawyers, Environmental Health Officers and anyone dealing with the regulation of Europe's food industry. It provides a useful reference to all EU laws and cases pertaining to specific food-related issues. O'Rourke also includes full details about the implementation into national law of the major food law directives are provided in the index.
