这本Alpers看来写得比较顺手。让人一口气就能读下来，思路非常明晰。尤其喜欢她讲到伦勃朗油彩处理与伤残的那段。

作者是伯克利的艺术史教授，当代大家。本书的四个部分，分别论述伦勃朗的四个方面。有的假设比较牵强，而关于伦勃朗的笔法、对戏剧性的喜爱、他的画室和他的自画像这几部分，颇具说服力。
