A Very Special Athlete tells the story of Adam, a young athlete running in his first big race at Special Olympics.
At the beginning of every Special Olympics competition the athletes recite the Special Athlete's Oath: "Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." The decisions Adam makes show how important that oath is to him.
Over a million people a year compete in Special Olympics at events in over 150 countries. By 2005, the number of athletes is expected to double.
