Soundwalk, New York's award-winning producer of urban neighborhood walking tours, and NPR's The Kitchen Sisters (Davia Nelson and Nikki Silva), creators of the Peabody Award-winning Sonic Memorial Project, introduce The Ground Zero Sonic Memorial Soundwalk. Scheduled for release on September 11, 2004, this richly layered 60-minute audio walking tour, narrated by writer Paul Auster, commemorates the life and history of the World Trade Center and the surrounding neighborhood. A portion of proceeds from sales of The Ground Zero Sonic Memorial Soundwalk will be donated to The Uniformed Firefighters Association's Scholarship Fund.
From a stunning array of phone messages and interviews to live music recordings and historic audio, The Kitchen Sisters and Soundwalk have crafted a transporting audio tapestry of Ground Zero to be experienced on location with headphones. As The Ground Zero Sonic Memorial Soundwalk unfolds, the spirit and history of the area come to life through a wealth of neighborhood recordings made over the past 80 years and a selection of intimate stories from a range of vantage points.
