A fairly well thought out treatise on shelter against blast and nuclear fallout. The expedient shelter plans are very detailed as are the instructions on how to create ventilation fans for the same.
Sorely lacking, however, is a review of the effects of electromagnetic pulse effects on technology and society as a whole.
As a high-altitude electromagnetic pulse would be the most efficacious use of a single nuclear weapon in the hands of a subnational organization or rogue state, this is a scenario which is more likely to occur than an exchange of airburst nuclear warheads which is the setting for which this book is written in the late 1980's.
Having said that, much of the information regarding stockpiling food, tools and supplies are useful in any disaster scenario that would involve significant disruption of transportation, information, and energy infrastructure.
