約翰·羅納德·魯埃爾·托爾金（1892—1973）是牛津大學教授，古英語專傢，寫瞭不少小說，其中最著名的是《霍比特人》（又譯作《小矮人曆險記》〈1937〉）與《魔戒》（1954—1955）。
托爾金是日耳曼人後裔，他的父係祖先十八世紀從薩剋森移居英國，父親是銀行職員，母親傢族則是當地人。童年托爾金的傢境窘迫，四歲時父親客死他鄉，十二歲時，母親死於糖尿病，這在當時是不治之癥。他與弟弟成瞭孤兒，由法蘭西斯神父撫養。

評分霍比特人的历险进入高潮和结尾。故事依旧分为上下两部。在消灭萨茹曼后。索隆的大军向冈多国发起了进攻。在冈多即将失败之时，罗翰国以及阿拉贡带领的援军的帮助，战胜了黑将军。然后又反攻莫都，在战斗即将打响之际，上篇结束了。 下篇弗拉多和山姆则继续在莫都城市的...
評分坦白说，在21世纪已经跨入第二个十年的时候，太多资讯和现实世界的压力已经使阅读这部繁杂浩荡，人物众多，历史事件层出不穷,几乎创造了一个独立世界又带有奇幻色彩的巨著变成了一个几乎不可能的任务，但我还是愿意把我的第一篇书评以推荐的名义，献给这部不可思议，才华横溢的...
