YETI is a book-format music and arts periodical. Each issue is approx. 240 pages long, has specially commissioned cover art (printed in stunning metallic ink) and comes with a full-length CD of exclusive/unreleased music.
YETI 4's CD includes music by Okkervil River, Destroyer, Michael Hurley with Tara Jane O'Neil, Califone, and many more, while the book contains interviews with Octavia Butler (an extended one, from 1997), Dan Bejar of Destroyer, Fred Tomaselli, Sam Lipsyte, Todd Barry, Souled American, Peter Lamborn Wilson, and the Blow; a brutally honest tour diary by Will Sheff of Okkervil River; an essay by Drew Daniel of Matmos on "How To Sing Along to `Sweet Home Alabama'"; fiction by Stacey Levine, Jana Martin, and Vanessa Veselka; and gorgeous full-page illustrations by the likes of Jesse Ledoux, Zak Sally, Nicole Georges, and Gregg Einhorn. In addition, noir novelist/historian Peter Doyle unearths archival crime-scene photos from Australia; editor Mike McGonigal explores the legacy of streetcorner gospel-blues great Rev. Louis Overstreet; and Meredith Brosnan goes off about the ABC No Rio open mic scene in NYC in the mid-'80s.
