作者对母亲的复杂感情很有趣，她也用很好的表达能力使之易于理解。童年各种或小或大（包括两个无比巨大）的阴影造成了两人终生的隔阂，她也在纪录片里明确表示过她只尊重母亲的艺术成就，人品么就……然而她明显又很享受母亲晚年对她从工作到生活的全方位依赖。私生活方面料很足，大量日记信件电报，好奇里面几任没透露姓名的情人是谁；略遗憾片场的料不够，毕竟女儿没法总跟着去拍片。MD确实不是好母亲，不过因为我不用做她女儿所以还是对母亲角色之外的MD更感兴趣：偏执的完美主义者，无比自恋的diva+无比敬业的演员，浪漫到死的情人+没同理心的冷血动物，专业服装化妆摄影师，敢想敢做的自由主义者……用作者的话说，她就不是凡人。在作者眼里她除了MW好像没真正待见过哪个没上过床的同事，其实也有HM、JW等人被她夸过nice的嘛。
