Sören Stenlund was appointed professor of theoretical philosophy in 2000. He was Head of the Philosophy Department in Uppsala and a member of the Faculty Board for the humanities in the period 2001-2003. He has been Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Philosophy and the coordinator of the seminar for theoretical philosophy until his retirement in 2008. During the fall of 2003, Stenlund was a resident fellow of SCAS.

Since his dissertation in 1972, Stenlund has published books and articles on various themes in the philosophies of language, logic and mathematics. Problems concerning the nature and history of philosophy, and the philosophy of culture, are other themes dealt with in Stenlund’s publications, some of which are available only in Swedish. He is currently working on philosophy of mathematics. Partial results have been presented at several international conferences, in particular at the Second “Middle Wittgenstein” Colloquium in Brotas (Brazil) in 2010, where Stenlund was one of the invited speakers.
