Area X has been cut off from the rest of the continent for decades. Nature has reclaimed the last vestiges of human civilization. The first expedition returned with reports of a pristine, Edenic landscape; the second expedition ended in mass suicide, the third expedition in a hail of gunfire as its members turned on one another. The members of the eleventh expedition returned as shadows of their former selves, and within weeks, all had died of cancer. In Annihilation, the first volume of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach trilogy, we join the twelfth expedition.
The group is made up of four women: an anthropologist; a surveyor; a psychologist, the de facto leader; and our narrator, a biologist. Their mission is to map the terrain, record all observations of their surroundings and of one anotioner, and, above all, avoid being contaminated by Area X itself.
They arrive expecting the unexpected, and Area X delivers—they discover a massive topographic anomaly and life forms that surpass understanding—but it’s the surprises that came across the border with them and the secrets the expedition members are keeping from one another that change everything.

2015年星云奖长篇获奖作品《湮灭》相较于以往星云奖长篇在国内获得的关注度要高那么一些，原因无他，与其一同竞夺该奖的国宝级科幻小说《三体》获得了当年的雨果奖，却在星云奖的角逐下败给了这部作品，不免让人好奇到底是怎样的作品能够力压《三体》一筹。 《湮灭》...

从来没看过一本科幻小说写的如此美丽又极度恐怖。梦呓一般的描写，以及非常自省内向的生物学家主角。特别喜欢主角讲到自己喜欢看鹦鹉螺上面的几何图案，感到一种可以预测的熟悉，又感到一种下一秒就坠入未知的恐惧和晕眩。原来描写“寄蜉蝣于天地，渺沧海之一粟”可以有这么朝“里”看的展现方式。这样一本书，电影改编的不错，但是还是只能展示冰山一角。
评分如果一个人从来没有做过梦，他是不是就活在一场无法醒来的梦里呢？
评分科幻设定上很明显属于迷失那一类的挖巨坑而填不上，主题上也很难达到真正厉害文学的高度，不过那种字里行间那种biological/ecological horror的催眠迷幻感与subtly creeping uneasiness还是很厉害的，尤其是descent into the Tower和遭遇大boss一段，换成电影的话大概就是2001太空漫游里穿越时空那一段的观感。

评分看完电影找来原作看的。作为一本探险队生物学家(相当于电影女主)的自述，整体调性隐忍而悲凉；情节上几乎一直在挖坑而没有给出任何确定的答案。作为三部曲开篇是很棒的开局，同时原著强调主观知觉感受的风格也确实凸显出改编电影的独特之处。
