It examines: "The Bridge in the River Kwai"; Nevil Shute's "A Town Like Alice"; and J G Ballard's "Empire of the Sun". It also draws on the writings of others such as Daniel Defoe and the Jewish-Italian Holocaust survivor Primo Levi to further illuminate its themes.
