Enlarged and revised to reflect progress in the field, this edition is designed as an encyclopaedic guide to the growth of brain tumours for both practising and training neuropathologists. It features chapters on basic aspects of brain tumour genetics, epidemiology, growth factors, invasion and metastasis, neurocarcinogens, and cellular and molecular immunology. The diagnostic aspects of central nervous system tumours have been updated with new chapters on cerebrospinal fluid cytopathology, flow cytometry and DNA ploidy analysis and immunohistochemistry. The text has also been expanded to incorporate recent advances in the understanding of factors involved in the genesis and progression of primary malignant tumours, in neuroimaging and in tumour classifications (including the recently revised WHO classification system) with emphasis placed on those factors identified with prognostic significance.
