羅傑·卡曼 [Roger Kamien] 1934年生於巴黎，6個月大被父母帶到美國。先後獲得哥倫比亞大學音樂學士、普林斯頓大學音樂學碩士和博士。曾在亨特大學教音樂史、音樂理論和音樂文獻，後在紐約大學女王學院擔任20年音樂欣賞教研室主任。1957～1959年，返迴巴黎做富布賴特學者，專門研究18世紀音樂。1983 年，當選耶路撒冷希伯來大學祖賓·梅塔音樂學會主席。近年來，他和妻子安妮塔成立一個雙人鋼琴組。
