Harriet and Harry are two skunks who love each other very much. One day, Harriet wakes up feeling so pretty she just has to have a new hat. She looks all over town, but she cannot find the white hat she has her heart set on. Then Harriet finds the most beautiful hat she has ever seen, decorated with satin, berries, flowers, lace, and ribbons, but she can?t try it on because it is an antique. The over-sized hat looks very silly, but it's the happy and affectionate way it makes them feel that counts.
