A fantasy novel where Allie, an 8th grader, is deserted by her best friend who wants to be part of the popular crowd, who definitely don't like Allie. Angry and frustrated, Allie throws her friendship charm into her swimming pool, and a young ghost appears. Dorothy May, the ghost who may have jumped off the Mayflower in despair, has returned and helps Allie solve her 8th grade social problems, specifically, finding new and better friends.
