吉莉恩•羅斯（Gillian Rose），英國開放大學（The Open University）文化地理學教授，當前研究領域集中在當代視覺文化和視覺方法論等。普通的、日常的觀看方式以及在傢庭和公共空間觀看的效果，是其興趣所在。她主持瞭一項以傢庭照為研究對象的長期課題，該課題旨在檢視在全球視覺經濟中，作為視覺對象的傢庭照，在一係列不同實踐活動間的傳播。課題的研究成果《傢庭攝影活動：傢庭、公眾和情感的政治》（Doing Family Photography: The Domestic, The Public and The Politics of Sentiment）已於2010年由Ashgate齣版社正式齣版發行。考察規劃都市空間的經驗是她最近主持的另一個研究課題，該課題由英國經濟與社會研究委員會資助（www.urban-experience.net）。不過耗時最長的課題還是本書。

肖偉勝，男，1970年生，西南大學文學院教授、文學博士、博士生導師、副院長，主要從事西方美學與視覺文化研究。主持“‘文化轉嚮’與視覺文化研究”、“‘語言學轉嚮’與視覺方法論研究”、“視覺文化與圖像意識研究”等多項國傢社科基金重點項目、教育部人文社科項目等課題。撰有《視覺文化與圖像意識》、《視覺文化與當代文化批評》、《現代性睏境中的極端體驗》等學術專著。曾在《文藝研究》、《文學評論》、《二十一世紀》（香港）等核心刊物發錶論文60餘篇，其中多篇被全文復印或轉載。
