A poignant and unusual story of love in the twilight years of life, from the well-loved author of the Upstairs, Downstairs books; Miss Pollock has lived almost her whole life in the same house in the seasidetown of Brightlesea. With both her parents dead, she has no-one to turn to when she is threatened with eviction because the Council want to tear down her home. Mr Charrington has a family, and a home. But when his son and daughter-in-law, and their children, make it plain that they re fed up with him living with them, he too has no choice but to leave.
