很一般，人物塑造很单薄，各种故事情节推动也比较牵强。唯一比较有趣的是失去生育能力以后对社会变化的描述，但也只能打到七十分。

P. D. 詹姆斯（P.D. James, 1920—2014）

英国作家，她在英文世界享有盛誉，被誉为“当代推理小说女王”。自其创作以来获奖无数，其中包括推理小说界的两个最高奖项——“钻石匕首奖”和“大师奖”。她是为数不多的同时拿下两项大奖的作家之一。此外，她也是继柯南•道尔、阿加莎•克里斯蒂之后，被请进“国际犯罪小说名人堂”的第三位作家！

她一生写了20部作品。其中，唯有《人类之子》不是推理题材，却是她深刻批判权力，热烈歌颂生命的重要作品。2006年，本书由阿方索•卡隆执导，被改编为同名电影，被BBC评选为“21世纪 100部伟大的电影”（100 greatest films of the 21st Century）第13位。
