评分它的美在于细节，耐人寻味的细节。看这一片片美丽而不重样的雪花，又别致又静谧。再看光是鼠类动物就一一讲到了土拔鼠、花栗鼠、两种不同的林鼠，还有田鼠和鼹鼠。作者曾经在林中的小木屋过冬，所写所画皆有切身感受，不同的小鼠形态、神情、习性各异，已经非常精彩了；写到鼹鼠不用迁徙过冬，可以大嚼花园里的球根，更有一份活灵活现的可爱。而书里讲到的动物远比小鼠多得多……非常缓慢非常安静的一本书，似乎能闻到冰雪的气息，听到雪落的声音。
