作者很诚实地讲诉自己的过去。作为一个和比自己大二十多岁的同性恋结婚，尝试生孩子却无果，最后经历了一切后生活还要继续让人突然觉得和余华《活着》有一点点相似之处。不能说是巨作但个人故事（同性恋婚姻、高龄怀孕却流产、出轨等）确实在美国这个开放自由的国家显得格外真实。

很喜欢作者的文风 和我的中文写作方式很接近（诶我是在说读者集成了我？） 其實不是女權的反思 是人生的反思 rules do not apply 我們無法得到一切想要的 生活中很多是我不能控制的 最終的結果是 我們都放棄了掙扎 衝破昏黃的南非天際 逃回了自己安全但自我隔絕的軀殼裡
