评分4.5/5 Jane Harper has again succeeded in delivering a powerfully suspenseful thriller with her great knowledge of Australian geography and precision in constructing complicated characters. With many satisfying twists and turns, this book ends with a heartwarming yet incredibly powerful message about family, love and human relationship.
评分因为The Dry的成功，迫不及待翻开今年出的系列第二本。这又是一本让人差不多从头猜到尾的好悬疑。作者关于故事节奏的把握非常棒：很多悬疑故事容易太拖沓让人中途失去耐心，亦或者不停反转让人觉得刻意和捏造过头，除了刺激感官合上书本后并不会去品味。而Harper小说很特别的是：看似慢悠悠给我们展现各种人物性格心理行为的同时，又很紧凑地将故事呈现眼前，读者兴致勃勃想追寻真相的同时，很自然地在脑海里演练各种猜测和可能性，而不是不耐烦地想翻到最后一页知道谜底。这种阅读体验是一部好的悬疑小说的特征。另一面，有两个点我感觉遗憾：1）这本里Falk和Carmen的人物性格淡化了很多，Carmen仅是为需要反衬别人的工具。2）女性角色之间的联系太脸谱化和老一套。不能说糟糕，但因上一本，对作者期望要高些。
