九百多頁，背景設置在維多利亞時期的成人曆史故事我還是從頭到底一字不落地看完瞭。挺享受在那個時期和這些有意思的故事人物接觸，作者的語句清晰細緻，比起維多利亞時期的創作當然現代、易讀很多。Faber更善於描寫人物心理，將幾個主人公刻畫得很豐滿。但對我來說，還是總體感覺篇幅太長，感覺是可以在不影響全篇前提下減少一些的。或者增加一些除瞭三個主人公之外的人物塑造？不過再怎麼說，還是不後悔讀瞭這麼一本彆樣主人公的故事。
