More than 100 young writers are represented in this collection of poetry and nonfiction, which captures and preserves the spirit of their generation and traverses three major areas of focus: memoir, family history, and community stories. Written by tenth-graders at the Los Angeles School of Global Studies in conjunction with the 826LA writing center's in-school tutoring program, the entries in this book cover a variety of topics, including urban legends, improbable (but true) romance, and Central American political intrigue, and feature writing that is heartwarming, heartbreaking, and everything in between.
