Mount Vernon was home to George Washington for more than 45 years. Throughout his life, Washington enlarged the residence and acquired surrounding lands. He transformed the mansion's modest exterior, adding a stunning two-storey porch overlooking the Potomac. He also acquired literally thousands of artefacts - ranging from paintings and sculpture to ceramics, glass, metals, textiles, tools, books, manuscripts and more (not to mention the famous dentures). This book highlights the outstanding fine and decorative art collection at Mount Vernon.
