膈膜與誤會自難避免，只是第六章對當代日本Gay文化產業的寒磣描寫令我疑心作者的用功程度——足夠重視，然而缺乏瞭解。恐怕任何一個腐女都能做出更詳盡準確的論述。BTW，“I did not see any Japanese gay videos which included girls.”這完全是無知，人所共知，大名鼎鼎的Coat公司旗下Another Version Section系列，Coat West旗下Straight Style系列，都是以此為賣點的熱門產品。

This work analyzes the range of contrasting images of the gay male body which occur thoughout Japanese popular culture, both mainstream and gay, in books, magazines, comics, newspapers, television, film and the Internet. It then relates these images to the experience of an interview sample of Japanese gay men. Three main media paradigms are highlighted: gay men as "woman-like" gender deviants, gay men as beautiful ideal lovers, and gay men as sex maniacs. The author aims to show that none of these representations related in any clear way to how gay men in Japan understand themselves. The book touches on a number of issues, including whether there can be a universal "gay identity" and whether or not strategies developed for increasing gay and lesbian visibility in western countries are appropriate to the social situation in Japan.
