The years 1775 to 1781 were troubled years for the Mohawk Valley. When the Boston trouble spilled over, the valley became the breadbasket for Washingtonas army and a prime target for the Loyalist Destructives. Flintlocks and Flames deals with the trials and tribulations of three friends prior to, and during, that period. In 1765, Lauri Howell, Jason Dayemon, and Walter Butler formed a bond, a bond so strong it was not broken until Walter was killed in a skirmish between the Crownas forces and the Patriots in 1781, eleven days after Cornwallis surrendered.
