奥威尔这篇里的nationalism其实可以推至任何强烈identify于某种群体（并无条件认为该群体优于他者）的人群，毕竟该人群的目的是“secure more power and more prestige, ...for the nation or other unit in which he has chosen to sink his own individuality”。文中提到的nationalist的主要特征（obsession, instability, indifference to reality）跟最近的某事件联系起来看也格外有趣。另两篇（反犹主义和体育精神）算是第一篇的某种延伸吧，体育那篇格外毒舌。

评分奥威尔真是深刻清晰，鞭辟入里，第一篇尤其好，适合精读学习议论文的写法。看到第三篇"The Sporting Spirit"惊了，高中时背诵过的新概念英语第四册的课文里节选过，现今仍记忆犹新。有点想入他老的文集了。（发现企鹅出的奥威尔作品真是多）
