書中有趣的幾個觀點：1.原教旨分子所注重的是action，而不是belief。2.原教旨主體的興起一部分原因在於某些伊斯蘭傳統的衰落，比如蘇菲教派的消失，伊斯蘭學者文化的衰落。3.伊斯蘭教的individualized傾嚮（上帝與個人之間沒有媒介）和對傢庭這一核心價值的看重，使得伊斯蘭社會無法發展齣類似西方的community和公共institution。4.伊斯蘭傳統中的女性歧視就很嚴重，但現在伊斯蘭婦女穿的那些把自己裹得緊緊的統一服飾倒是1930年代後集權主體的現代産物
评分就我有限的伊朗經驗來說，伊斯蘭內部文化的多樣性程度遠超外界對它的認知。大部分人依舊停留在恐怖分子=伊斯蘭的印象上。這書提齣瞭有趣的觀點，瓦哈比相當於新教主義，都是迴到過去的一種嘗試，卻導緻瞭截然不同的結果
