It is astoundingly beautiful, the densest work in the Gilead trilogy. It entails a profound reflection on the sinful human predicament, also the antidote to it through the grace of God. Each character is entangled in certain unspeakably painful memories, as the evasiveness reveals the vulnerability of their souls. Phenomenal insights into life.
