She then discusses the actual making of rings the properties of various metals, the techniques such as annealing, soldering, shaping and forging that are needed to work them; and possible ways of decorating the rings. She demonstrates these techniques in clear step-by-step sequences which will guide the reader through the processes involved. Finally, the book is illustrated with the work of an international group of artists. Their beautiful rings will both encourage and inspire the reader.
Jinks McGrath is a well known British jeweller who has exhibited widely both in Britain and on the Continent. As well as running jewellery-making courses form her workshop, she also gives lectures on jewellery and enamelling. She has previously written three other books on jewellery making.
