Gr 7 Up Written and illustrated by high-school students and their English teacher, this guide attempts ``to foster understanding between teens and parents and to ``tell teens and parents that they are not alone. It succeeds admirably. Essays are written in the students own words and have not been altered to correct grammar, which gives them a feeling of honesty and pinpoints specific concerns. Opinions are sensible, frank, and heartfelt. The section on parents problems reveals aspects of the adult world most likely unknown or misunderstood by teens. Following that, teens express ideas about what they would do if they were parents. One section contains rules compiled by teens and parents that are are fair to all. The unique and creative cartoon drawings add humor and truthful observations. Well organized, interesting, and inspiring, this guide could be used by any teen group and its leader as an example in trying a similar project. The book could complement Help! My Parents are Driving Me Crazy (Ace, 1982) by Jan Marks and The Kids Book About Parents (Houghton, 1984) by Eric E. Rofes and others in library collections serving teens and their parents. Diane P. Tuccillo, Mesa Public Library, Ariz.
