From School Library Journal Grade 3-6 A story about a girl with spina bifida， who is therefore confined to a wheelchair. Margaret wants to do the things that her friends and brother do， so as the book opens， she is trying to catch a prize balloon. Her brother helps her， but claims the prize， a baseball glove. Throughout the story， Margaret continues to compete with her brother. She wants a sports model wheelchair， while her father insists that she needs a waterbed. Rabe has a definite theme， that handicapped children can lead active and productive lives. Margaret and her friend sell lemonade and sing in the park， and Margaret gets a job stacking groceries in a store. Margaret is a believable little girl and her relationships with her family are nicely done， showing that life has similar ups and downs for the handicapped， but the ending is a bit contrived and sugar-coated.
