From School Library Journal Grade 4-7 --This self-help book provides a great deal of information. There is a wide range of topics covered, from basic first aid to dealing with threatening situations (someone offering drugs, alcohol etc.), to very simple details on how to wipe up something that spills, or what to do if a tooth falls out. Emotional issues are dealt with as well, including feelings about being punished, when parents argue, being an older/younger sister/brother. There are even helpful hints on how to cure boredom. The book should serve as an excellent springboard for parents to talk about sensitive issues with their children, and to prepare them for various situations. However, the format will not encourage general browsing by children, as there is too much information on too broad a spectrum of problems spanning too wide an age range. --Micki S. Nevett, Temple Beth Emeth Library, Albany, NYCopyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc. Card catalog description Offers advice for young people on how to handle a variety of situations when an adult might not be around to help.
