The fascinating story of young Nancy Hanks who had
some rather large doubts about whether she was good
enough to marry Tom Lincoln but later did and then became
the mother of Abraham Lincoln unfolds rapidly in fourteen
short chapters. Many authentic photographs accompany the
story. There is an interesting description of the Lincoln s
honeymoon cottage. It had been "... used twice previously
as a slaughter house and once as a stable."
The childhood days of Abraham Lincoln are skillfully
woven into this absorbing story. Nancy Hanks left her mark
of love, faith, and morality on young Abe. She died before
he was ten but later he staunchly, maintained: "All that I
am or ever hope to be I get from my mother. God bless her."
Charles Ludwig has also written 1"he Lady General, the
fe story of Evangeline Booth.
