<p>The book's editor, Tony Perrottet, an Aus- tralian writer and photographer living in New York City, has based his career on exploring the world's forgotten fringes: having gradu- ated in history at Sydney University, he was lured to South America by tales of relatives who worked on the sheep farms of Tierra del Fuego. Perrottet spent several years as a foreign correspondent in Buenos Aires be- fore becoming Insight Guides' editor-in-chief for South and Central America. He also edit- ed Insight Guide: Iceland and photographed Insight Pocket Guide: St Petersburg.</p>
