Young Anne Shirley returns as a 16-year-old teacher at the Avonlea School in this second installment of the Anne of Green Gables series. While performing her duties at Avonlea, she is tutored at home by Gilbert Blythe. Even though Anne has left her childhood behind, the mischievous redhead still finds a way to meddle in the affairs of others and dream about her handsome teacher. Several new characters come into Anne's world, including two orphans--Davy and Dora--and Anne's pupil, Paul. Throughout the story, Anne matures, but not without getting into her usual scrapes.
