Wilfrid Shute is one of the pioneers in
the discovery and application of vitamin
E as a preventive and treatment in
circulatory and other physical disorders.
Dr. Shute graduated from the Uni-
versity of Toronto with a B.A. degree in
Biological and Medical Sciences, a
course designed to train researchers. He
then went on to medical school at the
University of Toronto, graduating in
1933. He entered private practice after
five years of postgraduate training in the
teaching hospitals of the University of
Chicago and the University of Toronto.
He and brother Evan founded a clinic in
London, Ontario, Canada, that became
the clearinghouse and the center for
scientific activity with vitamin E. For the
past 30 years Wilfrid Shute s main in-
terest has been to achieve recognition
among his colleagues for the medical
value of vitamin E. To this end he has
written several books on the subject and
given frequent lectures to lay and pro-
fessional audiences.
