MANY photographers, both amateur and professional, become frustrated with
photography.
The amateur, fired at the beginning by an enthusiasm given to few other
hobbies, may spend years buying expensive equipment, developing his craft
and piling up boxes of slides and prints. But sooner or later the idea of taking
more pictures that practically no one will see dampens his fervor.
The serious photographer wants to reach others with his images. It is natural
to want results seen, appreciated and perhaps even sold. Not knowing how to
accomplish this, some may give up photography altogether. Others continue
but, lacking any incentive or means of measuring achievement, produce repe-
titious work and stop growing in photography.
