Most college textbooks are written for the instructor. This book is
different. While we don t neglect the instructor, the book s empha-
sis is on getting the student in an introductory course in organiza-
tional behavior (OB) involved as he or she completes the assigned
reading. Managing Organizational Behavior is written in a conver-
sational manner that incorporates a number of special features de-
signed to help students interact with its contents. These features
are explained in detail in our memo to the students which precedes
Chapter 1.
