確實可能叫Harry Morgan更閤適。畢竟圍繞Harry發生的故事有趣，無奈，殘忍和驚心動魄。在水上Harry的心理活動是我最喜歡讀的部分。故事的其他人物的描寫，眾生百態，覺得是作者在一旁發牢騷。

5年後讀的第二遍，寫得真是不錯。一本很pulp的書徹底秒殺錢德勒和Jim Thompson. 似乎是海明威的中篇中真正延續瞭他短篇的精髓的一部，卻有很多人認為作傢失戀那段是濫竽充數。有多少人不喜歡就有多少人喜歡。

去年年底去Key west旅遊瞭一趟，發現到處都是海明威的痕跡，於是決定拜讀此書，到今天纔斷斷續續地讀完。Harry Morgan的遺言非常震撼人心。當維持生計都成瞭奢望，死亡於他或許是一種解脫。
