1.政治力量塑造了现代中医的知识体系，使其达到标准和统一化，同时具有科学的进步倾向；中医被体制化的同时，是作为西医的补充而存在的，借此中医确立了自己在ccp新社会中的地位，事件脉络梳理得很清楚，也有不错的分析。2.对除了政治因素之外的其他因素关注不足。3.仅仅将中医的这种变化视作一种原本多元化到统一化的知识变动也是不够的，应当将其视作医患关系、治疗过程、社会文化等更加广阔面向的变化。

本书在新中国早期的中医发展历程、国家政策与中医体制化的关系等方面做了有益的探索，可算是补白之作。作者认为在中医在服务于中国共产主义革命的同时，其自身也受到革命的塑造，因而是一种“革命医学”。作者注意到了20世纪中国革命的连续性以及中医的发展与这种连续性的关系，讨论了政治体制对中医发展的形塑，但是她对中医的基本理论、临床疗效和社会功能的了解和关注均较少，并且没有提及政治以外的其他因素对中医发展的影响。因为中医在20世纪50年代的发展并不是孤立的现象，而是千百年来医学文化发展演变的延续，也是20世纪中国政治、社会变迁的折射。尽管政治是50年代社会生活的核心和主导力量，但它并不能涵盖全部主题。将中医归结为一种“政治医学”是一种表浅和狭隘的他者视角。所以“中医是一种革命医学”的假设是不能成立的。
