埃莉诺•卡顿，新西兰作家，1985年出生于加拿大，在坎特伯雷大学学习英语，并在新西兰惠灵顿维多利亚大学获得创意写作的硕士学位。2008年进入美国爱荷华作家工作室进修。因处女作《彩排》而获得众多文学奖项,一举成名。在2009年被誉为“年度小说黄金女孩”。目前在新西兰马努卡理工学院教授创意写作。
2013年凭借小说《发光体》（The Luminaries）获得布克奖，成为该奖项史上最年轻的获奖者。
